A 1.2-megawatt photovoltaic power roof project of a commercial complex in Shandong Province was put into operation on April 22. It has the largest installed capacity of its kind in the region.
Invested and built by China Green Development Group, the project made full use of the commercial complex's roof, installing 2,574 solar panels over 6,000 sq m.

The PV roof is designed for a 25-year service life and is expected to generate a total of 31.05 million kilowatt-hours.
Once the project is fully operational, the power it generates will equal that produced by burning 10,350 metric tons of standard coal, which will reduce emissions of carbon dioxide, nitrogen oxides and smoke dust by 30,957, 466 and 7,046 tons. It will have an effect equivalent to planting 1.65 million trees and save 22.88 million yuan ($3.52 million) of electricity expenses.
