A nuclear and photovoltaic (PV) integrated power project was launched at the Haiyang Nuclear Power Plant of State Power Investment Corporation Limited (SPIC)'s Shandong Nuclear Power Company on April 11.
The project is an innovative exploration of multi-energy complementation and improved utilization of energy resources based on coupling the technology of nuclear power and new energy.
With a total installed capacity of 1,009 kilowatts, the latest-launched nuclear and PV power project is expected to be able to generate about 1.26 million kilowatt-hours of power annually.
The generated power will be mainly used for daily living and engineering during construction.
The power volume equals that obtained by burning 414.26 metric tons of raw coal and can reduce emissions of carbon dioxide, sulfur dioxide and nitride oxide by 1,260, 38 and 19 tons, which makes full use of the land while improving use of energy resources.
So far, the project is ahead of schedule and construction of the PV plates on the ground and roof as well as of a PV power corridor is to start soon.
While increasing the PV capacity, more application scenarios like a PV power storage and charging integrated carport and smart road lamps will also be under development to improve energy utilization structure in the affected area and advance construction of a green plant.
It's worth noting that previously Shandong Nuclear Power Company had also built a comprehensive smart energy source demonstration project that includes systems for distributed PV power supply, nuclear heat and water supply, and water and power storage, forming a "green neighborhood" based on nuclear power and a comprehensive smart energy system.
