Two Solar Thermal Power Generation Standards Issued

Updated: 2022-04-15

Two national standards related to solar thermal power generation set by an institute affiliated to China Energy Engineering Group Co., Ltd. (Energy China) have been issued and are scheduled to be put into effect on Oct 1 this year, according to the Standardization Administration of China.

The two standards were among the research missions of the country's research and development programs on key technology standards for solar thermal power generation and thermal utilization.

Based on the current condition and future development of a tower solar power plant's receivers and following the principle of long-term, safe and reliable operation, the standards include technical requirements and corresponding test methods that receivers of power from a tower solar thermal plant should meet.

Presided over by Energy China's institute, the standards were set by leading industrial institutes and experts in three years. They systematically detail key technology indices like structural parameters and functional performance, as well as supporting methods of pre-delivery inspection and field tests.

The standards are the first of their kind in both China and the world, and are expected to effectively promote normalization and standardization of energy receiver technology.

They are of great significance in boosting development of the solar thermal power industry and will contribute to realizing China's goal of peaking carbon dioxide emissions by 2030 and reaching carbon neutrality by 2060.
