In addition, CNOOC highlighted construction of smart gas fields to lower costs and improve quality and efficiency as well as guarantee safe production.

Green and low-carbon development of the oil and gas fields is also a concern of the company.

In 2021, the Baiyun gas field reduced energy consumption equaling that produced by 3,000 metric tons of standard coal, cut down use of over 4,000 tons of water and reduced carbon dioxide emissions by 4,000 tons.
