As of March 14, the Tarim Oilfield had provided more than 300 billion cubic meters of natural gas to Central and East China through China's West-to-East gas pipeline project, according to China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC).
The volume is 1.5 times the country's total natural gas output in 2021, and its consumption was equivalent to the energy produced by burning 400 million metric tons of standard coal and a reduction of 426 million tons of carbon dioxide. The energy benefited about 400 million residents in 15 provincial regions.
One of the main gas sources of the West-to-East gas pipeline project, the Tarim Oilfield has had an oil and gas equivalent of 31.82 million tons, which included 31.9 billion cubic meters of natural gas, and has achieved over 1 million tons of growth in five consecutive years.
The oilfield will continue to support the West-to-East gas pipeline project while driving economic and social development in the region.
