CREC Supports Development of Xiongan New Area

Updated: 2022-04-02

China Railway Beijing Engineering Group Co., Ltd, a subsidiary of China Railway Group Limited (CREC), has played a key role in supporting construction of Xiongan New Area in North China's Hebei Province over the past five years.

Building a livable city

In late December 2020, China Railway Beijing Engineering Group Co., Ltd set about the task of constructing resettlement housing projects and their supporting facilities in Xiongan New Area, with the intention of improving the living environment of local people.

During construction, the company has highly valued environmental protection, energy saving, resource utilization and protection and technological innovation and created smart construction sites based on Building Information Modeling (BIM) technology, doing its best to limit impact on the surrounding environment.

So far, 34 main buildings in the western part of the resettlement housing project's area have been roofed, and are expected to provide accommodation for 1,933 households.

Construction of the No.2 housing project in the eastern part of the area started in early April 2021. Covering an area of 526,000 square meters, it is the first commercial residence project in Xiongan New Area and is designed to meet residential demand of 1,611 households.

The main body of the project has been completed and the project is scheduled to be delivered on June 30 this year.

Constructing high-quality traffic network

Traffic is an essential element to development of a region, and Xiongan New Area is no exception.

The Beijing-Xiongan Intercity Railway opened to traffic on Dec 27, 2020. China Railway Beijing Engineering Group Co., Ltd was responsible for the 2nd section of the project which is 5,942 meters long and located within the Beijing Daxing International Airport area.

To improve construction efficiency, the company adopted such new technologies as smart reinforcing steel bar processing equipment, intelligent tensioning equipment, an automated spraying and maintenance system and BIM and used 11 paver laying machines and eight crawler cranes at the same time.

At present, the project is in its final stage. Once the Beijing-Xiongan Intercity Railway is fully operational, passengers will be able to reach Beijing from Xiongan New Area within an hour, the project manager of China Railway Beijing Engineering Group Co., Ltd said.

The airport railway station of the Beijing-Xiongan Intercity Railway is also shouldered by the company. The station features safety doors that can stop cross-ventilation between the platform and the railway line to cut down noise and improve passengers' waiting experience.

The light roof is installed with a four-gear adjustment system that can increase and decrease illumination according to operation demand, which realizes energy saving and reduced usage.

Adhering to green development

In addition to contracting for railway, highway and housing projects, China Railway Beijing Engineering Group Co., Ltd also highlights environmental protection and clean energy business.

It was responsible for environmental demolition and solid waste treatment projects in Rongcheng County, which support green and environmentally-friendly development of Xiongan New Area.

What's more, the company also participated in the Millennium Forest project of the area which started in November 2017.

It participated in construction of seven forest areas of the project and had planted more than 110,000 trees covering 2,700 mu (180 hectares) by April 2020.
