TIANJIN — Construction started Saturday for the first phase of a new gas field project in the Bohai Sea, according to its constructor.
The gas field, known as the Bozhong 19-6, was discovered in 2019 in the central Bohai Sea. It has proven reserves of over 150 million cubic meters of oil and nearly 200 billion cubic meters of natural gas.
The constructor, Offshore Oil Engineering Co., Ltd., is a Tianjin-based listed company controlled by China National Offshore Oil Corporation.
The first phase of the project plans to build a central processing platform, three unmanned wellhead platforms and four jackets at three sites in the cities of Qingdao and Tianjin.
The pilot-area development project of the gas field went into operation in October 2020, with peak production of 1 million cubic meters of natural gas and 950 cubic meters of condensate oil per day.
