World's First Integrated Million KW Generator Unit Put into Operation

Updated: 2022-03-17

The No. 3 generator unit of the 2×1,000-megawatt expansion project of the Shentou Phase II project of State Power Investment Corporation Limited (SPIC) in Shanxi Province recently completed a 168-hour trial operation.

During the trial operation, all indicators showed that the unit performed better than it was designed.

A key project of Shanxi's power industry development plan during the nation's 12th Five-Year Plan (2011-15) period, the project is a coal-power integrated generator unit with large capacity and high parameters built in response to the national and local energy structure adjustment and industrial upgrading policies.

It's worth noting that the project combines the indirect evaporative cooling tower, the stack, the primary and secondary absorption towers and the wet electrostatic precipitator into one, which reduces its area coverage and volumetric ratio per unit. It is also the world's first "five in one" model of its kind.

The project is expected to be a model of large-capacity, high-parameter and energy-saving and environment-friendly million-kilowatt generator units in Shanxi, and will play a crucial role in guaranteeing economic development and reliable energy supply in the region.

The project was designed and built respectively by China Energy Engineering Group Co., Ltd.'s subsidiaries, Shanxi Electric Power Engineering Co., Ltd. and Anhui No. 1 Electric Power Construction Co., Ltd.
