As of Feb 17, 2022, Baihetan Hydropower Station, the world's second-largest after the Three Gorges Dam project, had generated 20 billion kilowatt-hours of green power.
The power amount equals that produced by burning 6.24 million metric tons of standard coal, a reduction of 16.02 million tons of carbon dioxide.
A national major project for China's west-to-east power transmission, the station is installed with 16 hydro-generating units, each with a capacity of 1 million kilowatts, the largest single-unit capacity in the world. All of the units are scheduled to be put into operation in July 2022.
China Three Gorges Corporation has launched scientific equipment operation diagnosis and analysis to explore and master the operational rules of the units and ensure their safety.
