Updated: 2022-03-08

The first batch of diesel locomotives specially developed for Thailand by CRRC Qishuyan Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of CRRC Corporation Limited (CRRC), was delivered to its buyer on Feb 5, 2022.

The delivery included 20 low-axle-load meter-gague AC motor locomotives, with a loading power of 2,380 kilowatts, maximum operating speed of 120km/h and adopting double driver's cabs and inside corridor structure, suited for freight transportation throughout Thailand.

They are the first locomotives delivered under the agreement signed between CRRC and the State Railway of Thailand on Aug 31, 2020, which includes 50 such locomotives in total.

At the handover ceremony at the Siracha railway station in Chon Buri Province, Nirut Maneephan, Governor of State Railway of Thailand, said that the diesel locomotives using advanced technology are expected to improve the efficiency and safety of passenger and freight transportation and the quality of the country's railway service.
