China's Largest HPHT Gas Field Has Supplied 6.1 Billion Cubic Meters of Natural Gas for Hong Kong, Hainan

China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) recently announced that Dongfang 13-2, China's largest offshore high-pressure, high-temperature (HPHT) gas field project, has supplied 6.1 billion cubic meters of natural gas to South China's Hainan Province and Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) since it was put into operation in 2020.

Located at the Yingqiong Basin 120 kilometers west of Dongfang City, South China's Hainan Province, the Dongfang 13-2 gas field is found 3,000 meters under the earth and has a temperature over 150 degrees Celsius.

The gas field is designed with 34 wells and once fully operational, its peak annual gas production is expected to exceed 3 billion cubic meters.
