CSCEC Responsible for Construction of 4 Mobile Cabin Hospitals in Hong Kong

Updated: 2022-02-28

China State Construction Engineering Corporation (CSCEC) is responsible for the construction of four central government-funded temporary quarantine and treatment facilities for COVID-19 pandemic treatment in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR).

The mobile cabin hospitals are located at Tsing Yi, San Tin, Yuen Long and Hung Shui Kiu. Their construction started on Feb 22.

The cabin hospital at Tsing Yi is scheduled to be delivered within a week. Once fully operational, the four hospitals are expected to provide 14,000 to 17,000 isolation units.

Based on its experience in building the Huoshenshan and Leishenshan hospitals, two makeshift hospitals in Wuhan, Central China's Hubei Province built within days to treat COVID-19 patients, CSCEC is determined to complete the construction task while considering the actual needs in Hong Kong.

At present, construction by the company of two quarantine facilities at Penny's Bay and Kai Tak Cruise Terminal is underway. These two permanent hospitals are expected to provide about 9,500 isolation units when put into service.
