SOEs & Winter Olympics: CR Plays a Role in Beijing 2022

Updated: 2022-02-24

China Resources (Holdings) Co., Ltd. (CR) has played a role in the preparation, research and development, construction and support of the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics.

Dalian Port Hospital of CR Healthcare has participated in the national key science and technology research and development project under the framework of the Winter Olympics.

The hospital has built a ski training and sports monitoring platform that can help collect and evaluate athletes' biomechanical indicators.

Data collected by the platform can provide technical support to coaches for their on-the-spot decision-making and will also be a scientific and effective basis for athletes' future systematic training.

At present, the platform has been put into use in the Qinhuangdao training base of China's General Administration of Sport in Hebei Province.

The 50.5-megawatt Zhangbei wind power project of CR Power was connected to the grid on Dec 23, 2021. Together with other domestic energy companies it has provided a reliable power supply for the Games while achieving a favorable environmental impact and economic value.

As of Feb 9, 2022, the project had produced 9.33 million kilowatt-hours of power, an equivalent to a reduction of 9,300 metric tons of carbon dioxide.

In addition to enterprises directly affiliated to CR, innovative enterprises invested by CR's industry fund have also played an important part in supporting the Games.

For example, the in-depth design, installation and engineering of floodlighting at the National Stadium, dubbed "the Bird's Nest", where the opening ceremony of the Games was held, were contracted by CR-funded Anhui Huicai Technology Corp.

The "pilot one" panoramic camera developed by Shenzhen-based Labpano, also a company invested by CR, has been used in the 24-hour livestreaming at the Big Air Shougang, allowing viewers from home and abroad to watch the events in a 360-degree panorama.
