CSCEC Helps Quarantine Facility Construction in Fighting Against COVID-19 Pandemic in Hong Kong

Updated: 2022-02-23

China State Construction Engineering Corporation (CSCEC) is contributing to quarantine facility construction in Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) to help the government in its fight against the COVID-19 outbreak.

Construction of two community quarantine facilities in Penny's Bay and Kai Tak Cruise Terminal was started on Feb 19.

The quarantine facilities in the two areas cover more than 450,000 and 80,000 square meters and are designed with two and four floors, respectively.

Once operational, they are expected to provide over 9,500 quarantine and treatment units.

Based on the concept of Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DfMA), the projects adopt Modular Integrated Construction (MiC) and prefabricated parts as well as other smart building technologies.

To ensure safe and easy operation, both areas are designed with supporting facilities for medical treatment, office work and storage and equipped with independent water and power supply systems.
