SOEs & Winter Olympics: CASIC Shores up Tech Support for Beijing 2022

China Aerospace Science and Industry Corporation Limited (CASIC) has deployed several technological products at the Olympic venues to support a successful Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics.

At the end of December 2021, CASIC completed installation and adjustment of the last automatic meteorological station in Zhangjiakou, North China's Hebei Province.

The observed data can be displayed in real-time on the external screen and uploaded to the central station through the automatic weather station, which will provide weather services for activities in the competition zones.

According to CASIC, dozens of such stations have been installed in the competition zones, using advanced sensors to monitor precipitation in various forms like rain, sleet and snow.

CASIC equipped the stations with ultrasonic wind heating system In order to guarantee uninterrupted, accurate and reliable data collection.

A security system has also been developed by CASIC, which collects and shares information on regular security control and traffic management on roads linking to the Olympic core area in Chongli.

In addition, the company has built an emergency communication system for the Winter Olympics which integrates low-orbit broadband satellite internet system, high-orbit satellites and the terrestrial 5G network. The system will serve as a reliable supplement for the overall communication service in urgent and complicated situations.
