World's First LNG Unloading Arm with Automatic Docking Function Put into Operation

Updated: 2022-01-21

The world's first liquefied natural gas (LNG) unloading arm with automatic docking function was recently put into operation at China's first LNG port with dual berths.

Developed by China State Shipbuilding Corporation Limited (CSSC), the unloading arm is able to complete accurate docking with the flanges on LNG ships.

Its operation is expected to enhance gas receiving capacity in North China and support energy supply for the upcoming Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic Games.

The unloading arm will also play a role in helping CSSC build an LNG full industrial chain and contribute to guaranteeing national energy security and achieving the country's goal of peaking carbon dioxide emission by 2030 and reaching carbon neutrality by 2060.
