New Administrative Capital City in Egypt Starts Trial Operation

Updated: 2022-01-20

Several ministries of Egypt government are moving to the country's new administrative capital city, kicking off a six-month trial operation.

The new administrative capital is about half an hour's drive from Cairo and is expected to help relieve the pressure on the current capital's population, alleviate traffic problems, create jobs and attract foreign investment.

Contracted by China State Construction Engineering Corporation, the Central Business District (CBD) project in the new administrative capital city in Egypt included construction and engineering of 20 high-rise buildings and their supporting municipal projects.

The project covers about 505,000 square meters and its iconic 385.8-meter tower is the tallest building in Africa.
