Baihetan Hydropower Station

The first generator units of the Baihetan Hydropower Station were put into operation on June 28, 2021.

A major project of China's west-east power transmission program, the station is the largest hydropower project in the world currently under construction, and, once fully operational, will be the world's second-largest hydropower station.

It is equipped with the world's largest single capacity 1 million-kilowatt hydro-generator unit.

Many central state-owned enterprises participated in the project. They included China Three Gorges Corporation, State Grid Corporation of China, Harbin Electric Corporation, Dongfang Electric Corporation, Power Construction Corporation of China and China Energy Engineering Corporation Limited.
