CMEC's contribution to Pakistani education
The school in Dehani village of the Muzaffarabad area in Pakistan was seriously damaged in an earthquake in 2005, making it hard for local students to take courses.
Therefore, China Machinery Engineering Corporation (CMEC) built a Friendship School to guarantee their education.
With numerous surveys and strict attention to the design and building materials, the new school reached the highest seismic resistance standards and was put into use in April 2018.
The school president said that the Chinese enterprise brings hope to the students.
So far, the school has 175 students and nine teachers. The current 12 new school residences can accommodate about 400 students. The school plans to expand its teaching scale and will try to offer junior high school courses so that more students can receive education near their home.
Zhou Guanwu, chief engineer of CMEC's Neelum-Jhelum Hydropower Station project in Pakistan, said that the Friendship School plays a role in improving local education and at the same time lays a solid talent foundation for the country's industrialization. It is also an icon of China-Pakistan friendship.
He added that while carrying out construction of infrastructure projects in Pakistan, the Chinese enterprise not only provided a large number of job opportunities but also actively implemented skill training for local employees.
