First Ductile iron Pipeline ISO Standard Led by Chinese Company Issued

Updated: 2021-12-07

An ISO standard, "Restrained joint systems for ductile iron pipelines — Calculation rules for lengths to be restrained" (ISO 21052:2021) was recently issued by Xinxing Ductile Iron Pipes Co., Ltd. (XINXING PIPES), a subsidiary of Xinxing Cathay International Group. It is the first international standard led by a domestic enterprise in the industry.

A special interface structure is used in the computation method, which improves the self-anchoring capacity of the traditional socket connector of the cast tube.

The method can also support buttress-free design of pipeline-laying, trenchless horizontally directional drilling and immersed tunnel engineering.

As a concrete buttress is not needed, less time and land area will be required to complete a project.

Meanwhile, less carbon dioxide will be released during construction. The method is now a reference for promotion of low-carbon, environmentally-protective, green and convenient buttress-free design and technology.
