CSSC-Developed Deep-Sea Unmanned AUV Completes 10,000-Meter Diving

Updated: 2021-12-06

A deep-sea unmanned autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) developed by China State Shipbuilding Corporation Limited (CSSC) completed a 10,000-meter dive at the Mariana Trench.

The vehicle dived to a depth of 10,218 meters and obtained complete temperature and salinity profile data, filling the blank of China's AUV 10,000-meter deep-sea observation application.

The deep-sea unmanned AUV carried out several diving trials during the recent research and was proved to have functions such as autonomous navigation at specified depth and height, regional autonomous cruise, deep-sea film shooting and temperature and salinity profile observation. It is currently the fastest of its kind with the longest endurance mileage in China.
