Construction of the project started on Nov 1, 2017 and was shouldered by China Gezhouba Group Corporation (CGGC), a subsidiary of China Energy Engineering Group Co., Ltd..

Once operational, the plant is expected to help relieve the impact of flooding and drive local employment. The plant will be able to generate at least 160 million kilowatt-hours of power annually for 150,000 households, which will improve livelihoods and boost regional economic and social development.
