The project was built by China State Construction Engineering Corporation (CSCEC) and is an iconic project under the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative.
Located in northeastern Dhaka, capital of Bangladesh, the center covers an area of 80,000 square meters. The center's main body has red ceramic exterior walls and a gray aluminum wave-shaped roof, symbolizing the "ship" of friendship and trade between China and Bangladesh.
CSCEC was responsible for construction of the main body of the center, which includes 800 booths and public and technological supporting facilities.
The project passed mid-term inspection on Jan 17, 2019 and completed technical inspection in December 2020.
Upon operation, the center is expected to support large-scale international conventions and exhibitions and will create development opportunities for the region.
