China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) is delivering 60 million cubic meters of natural gas per day to the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area to guarantee the area's energy demand this winter and next spring.
More than 21 million cubic meters of the gas is produced from CNOOC's gas fields in the eastern part of the South China Sea. These fields have so far exported more than 5.4 billion cubic meters of natural gas this year, a historic high for the period.
CNOOC's Guangdong Dapeng liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal in the Greater Bay Area has transmitted 7.17 million metric tons of natural gas, with an accumulated natural gas transmission volume of over 86.95 million metric tons.
Since the gas transmission pipelines stretch through areas with dense populations, the terminal has developed a smart recognition system to identify potential risks more efficiently and accurately.
To ensure safe natural gas transmission, CNOOC's Zhuhai LNG terminal has enhanced the inspection and maintenance of its tanker cars' loading system. It also carried out a complete examination of the pipeline's gas export measurement system before winter, strengthened monitoring of devices and conducted pre-maintenance.
