Vietnam's First Metro Line Goes into Operation

Updated: 2021-11-10

A ceremony was held on Nov 6 in Hanoi, capital of Vietnam, to announce the delivery of the Cat Linh-Ha Dong Metro Line project, the country's first metro line, which is now in operation.

Built by China Railway Sixth Group Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of China Railway Group Limited, the 13-kilometer line has 12 stations.

It is expected to improve Hanoi's urban highway network, relieve traffic pressure in the area and promote regional economic and social development.

Tang Hong, head of the project, told Xinhua that as a result of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), the project reflects how Chinese technology, standards, equipment and experience have gone global.

It will play a crucial role in the docking and progress of China's BRI and Vietnam's "Two Corridors and One Economic Circle" plan.
