Updated: 2021-11-04

A 5G plus smart mining application was recently released in Yulin, Northwest China's Shaanxi Province, marking completion of the world's largest enterprise-level 5G core network.

The application was jointly released by Shendong Coal of China Energy Investment Corporation, CCTEG China Coal Research Institute of China Coal Technology and Engineering Group, China Telecom Corporation Limited and Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. at the 16th Yulin International Coal and High-end Energy Chemicals Industry Expo, which opened on Oct 13.

Based on the world's largest enterprise-level 5G core network, the 100G bearer network will be used in an entire mine pit for the first time to provide wide broadband. It will also be the first time that unmanned driving and accurate positioning will be realized by 5G and UWB technologies in a pit.

The underground coal mine is also expected to be fully covered by the network for the first time.

Based on its scientific research platform, professional advantages and technology development capacity, the CCTEG China Coal Research Institute focuses on research and development of mine communication technology and aims to become an expert in the field.

The company has completed technological upgrades involving 3G, 4G, WIFI, 5G and F5G and has obtained mining product safety label and explosion proof certificates.

The company will continue to work on development of 5G plus smart mining application scenarios to support the digital transformation of the industry.
