The 220-megawatt Solara4 solar power plant in Portugal, which has the largest unit installed capacity in Europe, went into operation on Oct 9.
The power plant, installed with China-developed highly-efficient photovoltaic plates, has a designed annual power generation volume of 382 billion kilowatt-hours, enough for domestic power demand of 200,000 households. It will help reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 330,000 tons annually while providing highly-efficient and environmentally-friendly energy.

The project is expected to contribute to China's goal of reaching peak carbon dioxide emissions by 2030 and achieving carbon neutrality by 2060. It will also be an example of international energy and environmental protection cooperation, promoting energy transformation and realizing sustainable development.
China National Building Material Group Co., Ltd. is responsible for the plant's construction.
The company has stepped up efforts to develop solar power projects around the world that adhere to green development in recent years. It has completed several large-scale solar power plants in the United States, the United Kingdom and Portugal.
