Shanghai Electric Power Construction Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Power Construction Corporation of China (POWERCHINA), will participate in the construction of a concrete tank for the first phase of the Jiangsu liquefied natural gas (LNG) project in East China.
Covering about 202 mu (81.8 hectares), the first phase includes construction of six LNG storage tanks and supporting facilities with the largest capacity in China. The facilities are scheduled to go into use in December 2023.
Operation of the new tanks will improve the total tank capacity of the Jiangsu LNG project to 2.5 million cubic meters, making the project the largest LNG storage base in China.
The new tanks will make the project's Binhai LNG Terminal capable of storing as much as 6 million metric tons of LNG, the most of its kind in the country.
The project is expected to continuously provide stable and clean natural gas to the Yangtze River Delta region and East China, which will benefit energy structure optimization, the improvement of emergency storage, economic growth and environmental protection.
