CASC Signs 50 Billion Yuan in Agreements at Airshow China

Updated: 2021-10-22

China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation (CASC) signed more than 50 agreements and letters of intent on cooperation with ministries, local governments and enterprises on Sept 29 at the 13th China International Aviation & Aerospace Exhibition (Airshow China) in Zhuhai, South China's Guangdong Province.

The signed projects valued at nearly 50 billion yuan ($7.76 billion) mainly covered three fields: space, defense and aviation technologies and service.

The National Satellite Ocean Application Service of the Ministry of Natural Resources signed an agreement of intent with CASC's China Academy of Space Technology on future remote sense satellite services in aspects of ocean dynamic environment monitoring, ocean color observation and development of ocean surveillance satellites. The cooperation intends to improve China's ocean observation capacity in terms of accuracy, temporal-spatial resolution and global coverage.

The China Academy of Space Technology will also develop and deliver a high-throughput satellite based on the Dongfanghong satellite platform.

The company, together with China Great Wall Industry Corporation, launched the Dongfanghong 3E communication satellite platform, which is already in service, to provide solutions for global users.

The meteorological satellite engineering management office of the China Meteorological Administration will join hands with CASC's China Academy of Launch Vehicle Technology and Shanghai Academy of Spaceflight Technology to build a satellite network and meteorological operating system for smart and coordinated observation, aiming to contribute to global disaster prevention and mitigation and meteorological service development.

Agreements on the purchase of new carrier rockets were also reached at the event, pushing forward development of the rockets and shortening the delivery cycle. The purchase will also stimulate developers to improve the service capacity and competitiveness of the Long March series.

As environmental protection has been a focus at home and abroad, CASC also stepped up efforts to develop clean energy.

At the event, some CASC subsidiaries signed agreements on developing smart equipment in the nuclear industry and application of space technologies in the hydrogen and copper foil industries, as well as energy conservation and emission reduction.
