Chinese Central SOEs Boost Overseas Industrial Development

Developing together with local employees

China Railway Construction Corporation Limited (CRCC) recruited many local people for the Mecca Light Rail project in Saudi Arabia, organized various vocational training and tapped the potential of Arabian employees.

CRCC holds employee training at least once a month, teaching theoretical and practical knowledge for crew members and maintenance workers.

Special textbooks that include a number of cases are written by professional technicians, and teaching methods like simulation activities, tests, group discussion and brainstorming are also adopted to improve employees' job and business skills.

Rail transit construction is in rapid development at present, calling for many talents specialized in railway operation.

During the management period of the Mecca Light Rail project, CRCC trained about 50,000 local employees.

Zhang Long, head of railway operation at the light rail project, said CRCC highly values vocational development of local employees and provides them training opportunities, which is a key part of Chinese central SOEs' fulfillment of social responsibility during their overseas development.

Only by developing together with local enterprises and employees can Chinese enterprises go further, he added.
