Updated: 2021-10-14

China Huadian Corporation LTD. (CHD) announced that it will step up efforts to promote new energy development in Northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region at a work conference on supporting Xinjiang's development that was held on Sept 10.

At the conference, CHD said it plans to invest 100 billion yuan ($15.52 billion) during the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-25), aiming to increase new energy installed capacity in the region by 20 million kilowatts and turn the area into a national clean energy base.

The company highlighted the construction of a 10 million-kW clean energy project along the Yarkant River in southern Xinjiang, as well as upgrades and renovations for coal power generator units, which are expected to provide green energy for livelihood improvement and rural revitalization.

CHD will work with other central and local state-owned enterprises and leading private enterprises to boost coordinated development of new energy and hydrogen energy industries, solid waste utilization and the construction of manufacturing bases.
