Peng said President Xi Jinping has clarified on many occasions the importance of strengthening infrastructure connectivity for China-Africa cooperation, which provides a fundamental guidance for central SOEs to actively carry out cooperation with Africa on infrastructure development.
In recent years, central SOEs have implemented the spirit of the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation and constructed a large number of high-quality projects in Africa, helping African countries gain access to water, transportation, electricity, and telecommunications services.
Since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, central SOEs have been coordinating the prevention and control of COVID-19 and project construction, ensuring important projects completed on time. In addition, goods and materials are provided by central SOEs to over 50 African countries, offering strong support for prevention and control of the pandemic and economic recovery in Africa.
Peng said SASAC will continue to promote central SOEs to adhere to the principles of extensive consultation, joint contribution and shared benefits, as well as the pursuit of maintaining high standard, people-centered, and sustainable development.
Central SOEs will team up with their African partners to further strengthen strategic alignment and anti-epidemic cooperation, strive for green development, fulfill their social responsibilities, and conduct high-level infrastructure cooperation, so as to make greater contributions to Africa's economic and social development and the improvement of people's livelihoods.
