Track-Laying Starts at Freight Station of Etihad Railway in UAE

Updated: 2021-08-25

Power Construction Corporation of China (POWERCHINA) recently started track-laying at the permanent railway project of the Etihad Railway Freight Station Project (2F2 Section) in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

The length of track-laying is 45 kilometers and the railway line is designed with a maximum speed of 60 kilometers per hour. The Ruvis Freight Station is the starting point of the track-laying.

In addition to track-laying, the 2F2 Section project includes construction of seven freight stations, a cross-sea bridge, an overpass and an 8-kilometer asphalt road, which covers the four emirates of Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah.

The Etihad Railway has shaped a freight and passenger railway network in the UAE. Its 2F2 Section project plays a crucial role in the country's railway network and those of all of the Gulf Arab States. It will cover UAE's industrial, manufacturing and logistics centers as well as densely inhabited district and ports.

Upon completion, the project is expected to contribute to expansion and improvement of the country's railway freight transportation and consolidate the UAE's role as the regional freight transport hub. It is also intended to help the UAE evolve into one of the world's leading international logistic centers.
