China's Liuhua 11-1 oilfield cluster has produced more than 20 million metric tons of crude for the past 15 years and up to early July this year, according to China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC).
The oilfield cluster went into operation in 1996 and has proved crude geological reserves of nearly 200 million tons, the country's largest limestone oilfield cluster.
In order to improve the oil recovery rate, CNOOC integrated studies on various fields such as earthquakes, geology, oil reserves and oil development techniques to develop innovative technologies that ensure stable and high yield of the oilfields.
In recent years, the company stepped up efforts to strengthen its technological and innovative capacity, improve study on percolation mechanisms in limestone oil and clear development plans for a fractured reservoir.
Between 2017 and 2020, the initial oil production of the newly-operated and adjusted wells increased by 30 percent on average.
