More than 10 billion cubic meters of natural gas has been transferred through the China-Russia east-route natural gas pipeline since it started operation in December 2019, according to a statement by China Oil & Gas Pipeline Network Corporation made Aug 11.
The company's statistics indicate that the pipeline at present is able to deliver 28 million cubic meters of natural gas per day and the daily transmission capacity is expected to improve to 43 million cubic meters by the end of this year, which will effectively support energy demand of the upcoming Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics.
The pipeline stretches through nine provincial regions in China and construction of the Chinese section was divided into three parts. The northern and middle parts are already in service and the southern part is scheduled to start operation in 2025.
Once operational, maximum transmission capacity of the pipeline is expected to be 38 billion cubic meters annually, which will benefit 400 million people in affected area.
