Telecommunication SOEs Support Epidemic Prevention, Control

Updated: 2021-08-17

Central state-owned enterprises (SOEs) have been playing a key role in guaranteeing communication services, and raising people's anti-epidemic awareness as well as supporting nucleic acid test during the recent COVID-19 resurgence with the use of advanced technologies.

China Mobile Limited (China Mobile) has been in full swing in stabilizing their network system and emergency communication service consisting of more than 2,000 nucleic acid test points, 100 highway checkpoints, and over 160 centralized isolation centers across nearly 90 medium- and high-risk areas.

The company has also helped connect the provincial nucleic acid test system to the cloud, enabling such tests to be provided in Nanjing and Yangzhou in East China's Jiangsu Province.

Dedicated cloud-based video conference lines were also launched and have supported more than 60 epidemic prevention and control online meetings.

In addition, China Mobile has provided an anti-epidemic-themed message service for 12 epidemic prevention institutes and has sent more than 5 million short messages to its users.

China United Network Communications Group Co., Ltd. (China Unicom)'s subsidiary in Jiangsu has also offered a message service and had sent 31.24 million text messages by Aug 2.

The company deployed nearly 20,000 NB smart magnetic gate security equipment to help epidemic monitoring.

As the 5G network is key to the dissemination of nucleic acid test information, Nanjing Unicom completed network optimization and signal detection of all test points in the city within 24 hours.

The COVID-19 epidemic has been resurgent in some areas of Central China's Hunan Province since July 29 this year.

In response to the resurgence, China Telecom Corporation Limited regional operations lost no time in launching its digital services to support the anti-epidemic battle.

So far, more than 500 teleconferences have been held using the company's cloud video conference application and its smart community information service platform has publicized epidemic prevention and control information in nearly 2,000 city blocks and towns throughout Hunan.
