Five mobile P2 + microbiology labs have been sent to Zhangjiajie in Central China's Hunan Province to assist with the nucleic acid testing in the COVID-19 resurgence.
Developed by a subsidiary of China Aerospace Science and Industry Corporation Limited (CASIC) in East China's Jiangsu Province, the labs have been previously used in epidemic prevention and control missions in Hubei, Heilongjiang and Yunan provinces and Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.

Development of the mobile P2 + microbiology lab was based on the mobile P2 + biological test lab. It has enhanced nucleic acid test capacity and a quicker set up time for early-stage preparation of the test.
In addition, it has a larger testing footprint as it has separate reagent and sample preparation zones and a nucleic acid testing area, which also meets the requirements for the prevention and control of infectious diseases.
The lab is equipped with differential pressure transducers and the air pressure in each of the areas in the lab features real-time monitoring, which guarantees safety of the medical workers.
A 24/7 shift roster is now undertaken at the labs for nucleic acid test.

Arriving together with the lab at Zhangjiajie was a professional support group, which was set up by the company for the recent emergency resurgence.
A technical support team was also in position to provide frontline support for technical needs.
