Sinopec Jianghan Salt Chemical Hubei Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of China Petroleum & Chemical Corporation (Sinopec Corp.) has become the world's largest disinfectant producer after its recent successful commissioning test run of a sodium method bleaching powder facility with an annual output of 12,000 metric tons.
The company's sodium method-based bleaching powder is a kind of highly-effective inorganic disinfectant that can kill various kinds of bacteria and viruses like pathogenic entero becteria, pyogenic coccus and poliovirus.
It will be used in food and drinking water disinfection, water purification and environmental improvement as well as the livestock and aquaculture industries.
The facility, which broke ground in June 2020, will not only improve production efficiency, but also lower energy consumption so as to reduce carbon dioxide emissions. Meanwhile, the products made by the facility will be whiter in color, a factor that is expected to help strengthen product competitiveness.
Upon operation of the new facility, the company will produce more than 100,000 tons of disinfectant annually and export its products to more than 80 countries and regions.
