First Tunnel Excavation Completed at Chinese SOE's First Large-Diameter-Shield Project in Europe

On July 12, the first tunnel of China Railway Construction Corporation Limited (CRCC)'s metro shield project in Moscow, Russia, was dug through.

It is the first large-diameter shield tunnel in Europe to be engineered by a Chinese enterprise.

A 10.88-meter diameter tunnel boring machine independently developed by the CRCC was adopted during construction. It has the largest diameter of all the China-developed machines that have been exported to Europe and was specially made for operation in extremely-cold conditions.
