Updated: 2021-07-29

The Central China's province of Henan has been swamped by heavy rains which caused severe flooding.

By midnight of July 21, more than 1.24 million people in 89 counties, districts and municipals across Henan had been affected by the heavy downpours and floods.

The water level of the Guojiaju Reservoir at the Jinshui River in Zhengzhou, capital of Henan, rapidly rose and some parts of the dam collapsed on July 21, leading to a potential breaking of the entire dam.
