China State Shipbuilding Corporation Limited (CSSC) dispatched an emergency team to Central China's Henan Province in response to heavy rain and severe flooding on July 21.
On the evening of July 22, the team completed construction of two floating bridges which played a role in rescue of people trapped in the flood.
By the afternoon of July 23 more than 1,400 people had been transferred to safety, and the rescue was still ongoing.
The floating bridges used in the rescue mission are among the most advanced water relief equipment in China. Each of them can carry as many as 450 people and allow a transfer speed of 10 kilometers per hour.
Such bridges have also been used in other flood rescue situations in the country.
