World's Third Full Industrial Chain Silicon Carbide Production Line Ready for Operation in Central China

Completion of the world's third and China's first full industrial chain production line for silicon carbide was announced on June 23 in Changsha, Central China's Hunan Province.

A main part of the Hunan San'an Semiconductor Industrial Park Project, the production line is expected to play an effective role in development of China's integrated circuit industry.

Located in the Changsha High-tech Zone, the Hunan San'an Semiconductor Industrial Park Project is one of the top 10 industrial programs of Hunan and one of 24 iconic manufacturing projects of Changsha.

Covering an area of 222,000 square meters, the project includes construction of plants for silicon carbide nucleation production, chip manufacturing and device packaging, as well as supporting facilities.

In addition to the full industrial chain production line for silicon carbide, the park will also feature a research and development line for the products once fully operational.

Silicon carbide products are expected to have high quality and stability but low cost and will be used in fields like new energy cars, high-speed trains, aerospace and wireless communications.

It is expected that the park will realize an annual output value of 12 billion yuan ($1.86 billion) and will drive output value of more than 100 billion yuan of the supporting upstream and downstream industries while providing nearly 10,000 jobs.

China State Construction Engineering Corporation has contributed to the project.
