Shanghai's Jiangnan Shipyard delivered its fourth 23,000-TEU liquefied natural gas (LNG) powered container ship to French shipping and logistics group CMA CGM Group on May 26.

Named CMA CGM Trocadero, the vessel is 399.9 meters in length, 61.3 meters in width, and is currently the world's largest duel fuel container ship, according to Jiangnan Shipyard, a unit of the world's largest shipbuilder China State Shipbuilding Corp.

The vessel's 18,600-cubic-meter LNG tank allows it to travel 20,000 nautical miles (37,040 kilometers), making it suitable for round-trip voyages on the Asia-Europe routes.

The mega ship is the eighth of the nine vessels CMA CGM Group ordered. The vessels were built and delivered by two Shanghai-based shipyards under CSSC - Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding (Group) Co Ltd and Jiangnan Shipyard (Group) Co Ltd.

LNG is a particularly clean source of power which can reduce emissions of sulphur and fine particles by 99 percent, nitrogen oxides emissions by 85 percent and carbon dioxide emissions by about 20 percent when compared with fuel.
