New Ring Road to Contribute to Economic Development, Livelihood in Belgrade

Updated: 2021-05-14

The S4 section of the ring road in Belgrade, capital city of Serbia, opened to traffic on April 29. It is a section of the Pan-European transport corridors and is expected to improve local traffic conditions and optimize regional connectivity.

The 7.72-kilometer two-lane section includes three bridges, two tunnels and one interchange.

It is a part of the B4 ring road project in southeastern Belgrade and contains renovation of a 20.6-kilometer two-lane one-way highway.

What's more, the ring road is a major traffic backbone in Serbia and will link Central and South Europe.

Once completed, it is expected to relieve traffic congestion in the capital city, make travel easier for local people, improve urban air quality, contribute to green development and boost economic development in the country.

The ring road, together with a subway project that is to start soon, is expected to support Belgrade to evolve into an international metropolis.

Power Construction Corporation of China is responsible for project construction.
