CSSC to Build World's Latest Type of Container Ship

China State Shipbuilding Corporation Limited (CSSC) will build six 15,500-TEU container vessels, for Seaspan Corporation, according to an agreement reached by them on March 26.

The vessels, which are expected to be the world's newest type of their kind, will be built by CSSC's Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding (Group) Co., Ltd. and Jiangnan Shipyard (Group) Co., Ltd.

Independently developed by Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding (Group) Co., Ltd., the new type of vessel will be 366 meters long, 51 meters wide and 30.2 meters high.

Equipped with the world's most advanced technology and design, they will be green and environmentally-protective, highly-efficient, energy-conserving, safe and reliable.

Seaspan Corporation is the world's largest independent container vessel shipowner. It has 132 container ships with a total shipping capacity of more than 1.14 million containers.
