The north main tower of the Bianyuzhou Yangtze River Bridge of the Anqing-Jiujiang High-speed Railway was roofed on March 25, bringing to a close capping of both main towers of the bridge.
Spanning from Central China's Hubei Province at its northern end to Jiujiang in East China's Jiangxi Province at its southern end, the bridge has two high-speed railway lines with a designed speed of 350 kilometers per hour and two passenger-freight lines with a designed speed of 200 kilometers per hour.
The bridge was designed by China Railway Major Bridge Reconnaissance & Design Institute Co., Ltd. and contracted by China Railway Major Bridge Engineering Group Co., Ltd.; both companies are subsidiaries of China Railway Group Limited.
Upon completion, it is expected to be a strong traffic infrastructure for development of the economic circle along the Yangtze River and will boost construction of the Wanjiang City Belt and Poyang Lake Ecological Economic Zone.
It will also play a role in increasing trade between cities along the river and promote joint development of the affected regions.
