The first organic fertilizer produced by the China General Nuclear Power Corporation (CGN)'s organic resource comprehensive development poverty-alleviation project in Leye county, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, was delivered to a kiwi fruit base in the county's Xinhua town on March 12.
By using the fertilizer, soil fertility will be improved to provide nutrients to plants and raise the quality of agricultural products.
CGN's organic resource project is expected to provide 20,000 tons of high-quality bio-organic fertilizer annually, which will meet demands of the local organic planting industry and generate annual income of 16.6 million yuan ($2.54 million).
Construction of the project started in June 2020 and in November the same year the project went into trial operation.
The project established an industrial chain, promoted development of green organic brands and realized recycling and comprehensive utilization of waste and resources.
It is expected to handle 28,000 tons of filter mud and 6,300 tons of sugar plant components annually, as well as other industrial and agricultural wastes like sawdust and livestock excrement.
Cao Wenfei, a CGN employee who was sent to Leye to support local poverty alleviation and rural vitalization, said that the company will continue to help high-quality agriculture development in its paired-up areas in the future to make them more beautiful and prosperous.
