China Energy Plays Role in World’s First Offshore Wind Power-Deepsea Farming Project

China Energy Investment Corporation (China Energy) recently signed an agreement on construction of a project integrating deepsea cage culture and floating offshore wind turbines with the government of Xiuyu district, Putian in Southeast China's Fujian Province.

The world's first of its kind, it is one of China Energy's 10 major technological projects during China's 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-25)  period.

According to the agreement, the two sides will develop a technical solution to integration of floating wind power systems and deepsea cultivation.

The project includes construction of floating offshore wind turbines in the Nanri Island waters and a floating platform to be used as a breeding base.

The mode is expected to promote coordinated industrial development and will boost the marine economy.

The project's primary structure has been designed at present and the construction is planned to be completed in 2022.
