ChemChina Contributes to Online Promotion of Agricultural Products in Gansu

Updated: 2021-01-04

China National Chemical Corporation Ltd. (ChemChina) has made efforts in online promotion of agricultural products in Gulang county in Gansu Province, since 2016 when the county was selected for demonstration of rural e-commerce development.

The company integrated local resources, built a digital e-mall and created a brand for local products to improve sales.

To ensure sound development of the e-commerce platform, ChemChina built a poverty-alleviation company and launched an e-commerce team in Gulang.

The online shop, which opened in the summer of 2019, completed more than 60,000 orders by the end of that year with sales revenue of more than 20 million yuan ($3.06 million).

By the end of 2019, ChemChina had decided to establish an e-commerce poverty-alleviation fund to build a long-term e-commerce profit system and an operation mechanism to help lift local residents out of poverty.

Quality improvement was a priority.

The company invested and constructed a plant for deep processing of agricultural products like tomatoes, mushrooms, honey and peppers.

Covering more than 10,000 square meters, the plant features workshops for picking-up, processing, packing and refrigeration and has strict production processing and quality standard systems.

Before the launch of the plant, the company had also built a workshop for deep processing of the Chinese wolfberry. With an improved industrial chain, types of wolfberry products were expanded which improved public awareness of the Chinese wolfberries.

Improving e-commerce capacity was another way in which ChemChina bolstered product quality and increased income.

In the second half of 2020, the company invited experts in e-commerce to lecture villagers in Gulang, intending to improve their knowledge of the industry and help them develop operational technical skills such as marketing and service.

Courses related to short video making and livestream marketing were also given to residents in Gulang, which boosted sales of local products.

ChemChina will continue to highly value sustainable development of its paired-up regions and innovate regional development and revitalization.
