Second generation unit of the Hengshan coal-electricity integration project passes 168-hour test operation on Dec 13, 2018

The second generation unit of the Hengshan coal-electricity integration project passed a 168-hour test operation on Dec 13, 2018, becoming the world's first one million-kW indirect air cooling generation unit to go into operation.

The unit is also the first of its kind in the world to have a cooling tower installed with a desulfurizer and a lower smoke removal system.

Air cooling technology, which uses more than 3/4 less water than the amount used in water cooling, is a core to building large-capacity and high-parameter coal-electricity projects in northern China, which is rich in coal but short of water.

The Y-8F200WA aircraft completed its maiden flight in Kazakhstan after it was delivered to its buyer on Dec 13, 2018. It was the first time such an aircraft had been exported to a member of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS).

Manufactured by Aviation Industry Corporation of China, Ltd., the Y-8F200WA aircraft is a result of the Belt and Road Initiative and a model of China's aviation products suitable for entering regions involved in the initiative, particularly the CIS markets.

The new Badaling tunnel of the Beijing-Zhangjiakou high-speed rail line was completed on Dec 13, 2018.

Designed and contracted by China Railway Group Limited, the tunnel was the last, longest and hardest-to-build tunnel along the railway.

An important traffic-supporting project of the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic Games, the railway shortens travel time between Beijing and Zhangjiakou, a city in northern Hebei Province, to one hour.
